Following a
recovery period Lynda agreed to try a different form of chemotherapy, once
again the side effects were typical including sickness, tiredness and hair loss
again. The cancer was halted once again but was only having a limited effect.
After a short break from treatments Lynda began another form of chemotherapy in
2006. During the summer the cancer spread to other parts of the body and Lynda
received radiation treatment to the head, with a potentially life threatening
side effect of diabetes due to the steroids used to combat the radiotherapy. It
was at this point that Lynda lost the use of her right eye and had to also cope
with the spread of the cancer to her skin. Lynda sadly passed away at home on the 30th March 2007. Throughout Lynda’s fight against breast cancer she observed a number of situations that did not appear fair to the patients undergoing similar treatments. It is with these thoughts of Lynda’s that we have formed the charitable trust to try and fill what appears to be a gap in assisting those suffering from recurring breast cancer. (See Home Page) It appears that some of the things you would expect to be provided are not provided more than once. For example, if you are given a grant for a hair piece during your first course of chemotherapy you are not entitled to another should you have the misfortune of needing chemotherapy a second time? We therefore would like to try and make a difference in a small way to those having to
cope with the fight against breast cancer. |
